If you are relocating to Texas from another state, here are some tips to make your transition easier.

  1. Register to vote. For more information about voter registration in Texas, visithttp://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/index.shtml.
  2. Familiarize yourself with the Texas Licensure Laws. Visithttp://www.dshs.state.tx.us/dietitian/default.shtm to access the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians, which includes links to Texas statutes and board rules.
  3. Change your Academy state affiliate status. Login to the Academy web site www.eatright.org, click on “edit profile” under My Academy in the bottom left corner, and click “update contact info” to enter your new address information. Next, click “Academy member payments” at the top left, and change your affiliate status using the drop-down box. Changing your affiliate status is FREE, and no payment is required to submit the change.
  4. Apply for a Texas license. Visithttp://www.dshs.state.tx.us/dietitian/default.shtm to access the Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians home page. Click on “Apply for a New License” in the top right corner, and follow the instructions to begin the process.
  5. Connect with your district dietetic association. For more information about membership and events in your area, visit your local association’s web site.
